StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty will primarily focus on Terran’s campaign and the number of missions will be as high as 29, however, only 26 will be playable in single player mode. The time of completion for the entire campaign is estimated to be around 20 to 60 hours; the duration will primarily depend upon the player’s capability to compete in the game. Jim Raynor is the main hero of the game who is directed by the player to defeat the enemies. During the campaign, the players will visit a few of the places from the original StarCraft like Mar Sara, Char, Braxis while also visiting a few of the new unexplored places like the jungle planet Bel’Shir.
The missions, on which, the player is set out are varied and unique throughout the game. At the beginning of the game, missions emphasize on players acquiring equipments and credits. Some missions might consist of train robberies, hold-out mission while some are more complicated and challenging like the mission where player is expected to kill anything that is not on devil’s playground, a mission of collecting scrap from an outside planet and so on. Some of the other missions are also based on the concept of search and destroy thus making the chase tighter and more compelling. On completion of every mission, the player can either build a new unit or upgrade an existing one. These units and forces determine the race’s ability to fight and sustain during the length of the campaign.
New sophisticated units in the game have been included to ensure better interaction of the players with the environment. For instance, some units can traverse various levels of terrain; some can teleport short distances, while some units such as the Terran Cobra can be played only in single player mode. The setting of StarCraft II is on the very same galaxy where original StarCraft was set, with a few new additions to the look of the environment. A few between-the-mission-pieces might be included such as a picture of Raynor and Findlay or a bulletin board containing useful information or television broadcasts of happenings on other parts of the galaxy. So, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty retains all the factors that made the original StarCraft a classic, while improvising upon the many areas which needed rework and refinement. |
