Starcraft II Will Be Phenomenal!

The reason why Starcraft I has been popular and continued to be popular is that it had so much atmosphere, with a good balance of humor thrown in; making it very enjoyable, indeed, to both casual and hardcore players.

Some, if not all, speculated whether the much awaited release of Starcraft II will spark the same enjoyment players have experienced during the previous game play. Because, let's face it, releasing a previously good - very good - game doesn't guarantee that the next released game will be just as good as the previous one.

But Blizzard, as usual, has proved once again why they are one of the most successful gaming companies in history - if not THE most already. Starcraft II gameplay, as I found out, is very akin to the previous game but with more new elements and changes added in; at its core, it still has the key elements which made the original an amazing game to play.

After a week of downloading the BETA game and the patches needed, I eagerly booted up my computer in the hopes to lose myself in the amazing game experience Starcraft II offers to us gamers. Blizzard doesn't disappoint. On the get go, the interface sets the tone of the game beautifully and instantly pulls you in.

What I have experienced so far is similar to playing the original StarCraft, but with a shiny new look and feel. The original Starcraft was a highly absorbing atmospheric game of epic space battle and conquest. Rather than fix something that wasn't broken, Blizzard have opt to give it a facelift using the modern day technology.

Kudos to them for making this decision. I know that this will become as successful as the original one, if not more, because really, change is good if it’s needed but if the game's already perfect? You don't mess with it anymore less you destroy this perfection. Enhancing the gaming experience of players is much more viable option to undertake.

To sum it up, my initial impressions are that they've nailed the interface, graphics, music and systems. If they've put the same level of polish on the story and dialogue, we're in for a treat with the single player campaigns.

As the original Starcraft is, without a doubt, the best-selling RTS of all time with around 10 million copies sold and being that Starcraft II is the sequel to the best-selling RTS game ever, Blizzard will be racking up serious cash when they finally release Starcraft II. Many serious game players in various game forums stated that in South Korea alone, the game will be hard to find within a month’s time... at most.

Having been around for a solid 12 years or so, it will be mind blowing when the sales for Starcraft II came around. I just hope that there will be no serious lag on multi-player gameplay. We know that Blizzard is well known to be one of the gaming giants in the world... and is also quite notorious with the lags and their lack of customer support.
