Jim Raynor, the responsible law enforcement officer from original StarCraft is the main and chief hero in StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. The player will play him to fight and demolish the enemies on the lands of Mar Sera where begins StarCraft II, much like the original StarCraft. The player can either turn Jim Raynor towards the evil by allying him up with devils like Gabriel Tosh, or bend him towards goodness by teaming him up with good creatures like Ariel Hanson. Interaction in briefings has been changed enabling the player to select a character with which Jim Raynor can interact.
As the player progresses through the campaign, he/she can choose any mission instead of having to follow a series of pre-determined missions. The missions once accomplished can be played once again in order to get achievements. As in the original StarCraft, units will become available through missions. On completing a mission, the player can either upgrade a unit or build a new one. In certain instances, players will be allowed to choose between two missions and this choice, down the lane, will affect the characters involved in a particular mission and consequently further development of the game. In StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, players move about the galaxy visiting other planets trying to comprehend the whole universe and learn political factions.
A number of new units are being introduced for each race apart from enhancing some of the already present ones with new tricks in StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. Some of the visible changes known are giving zerg units a speedy movement whenever they are on creep; changes to protoss mother ship with a new ability called vortex which entraps group of units ad makes them immovable and incapable of attack until the effect ends; and terran aircraft has a new ability – seismic thumper which slows nearby enemies and prevents zerg from burrowing. The maps of StarCraft will be more interactive thus providing the players with a fast paced and strategically challenging environment to play in. Also, the multi player functionality has been modified to ensure match making with respect to ranks of each player is appropriately done by introducing a new competitive ladder for ranking.
Thus, StarCraft 2 promises to deliver what the fans expect and much more. |
